SINGAPORE: InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is to manage a 200-room hotel in Lahore as part of a spectacular mixed use development by Centaur Private Limited.
The signing ceremony, held in July at IHG's Asia Pacific head office in Singapore, was attended by the IHG CEO Asia Pacific Tony South, Paul Logan, VP Development, Centaur CEO Zarar Ali Khan and His Excellency Sajjad Ashraf, the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Singapore.
InterContinental Hotels and Resorts is the flagship five-star brand of UK-based InterContinental Group.
Centaur Private Limited is part of the diversified Rockville Group of Companies, also known for the prestigious Froebel's International School network in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and shortly in Lahore.
The InterContinental Lahore, scheduled to open in late 2010 would offer the luxurious facilities associated with the InterContinental brand including meeting rooms, ballrooms, signature restaurants, fitness centre and spa.
The glamorous 38-floor skyscrapers, located in the fashionable nucleus of Main Gulberg, would also include 100 elegant offices, 77 chic-serviced residences, select retail spaces and ample parking capacity.
"Centaur is proud to put Lahore on the map as a prominent gateway to Asia and a sought-after destination for business and leisure travellers from every corner of the world," said Zarar Ali Khan of Centaur.
"Sophisticated travellers expect and deserve contemporaneous international standards. Our project design is on par with modern buildings in New York, London, and Tokyo," he said.
The towers, with their cosmopolitan-flavoured world-class luxury, are certain to play a prominent role in Pakistan's burgeoning hospitality and tourism industry.
