Concrete blocks are locally made in Karachi and coastal areas due to easy availability of the raw material (ie sand). Bricks are not locally available here, they are therefore not used in the construction. If used, it will increase the construction cost. Concrete blocks are denser than bricks so it will increase the dead load on the structure. Gypsum blocks can be used instead, they are cheaper, lighter in weight, less heat absorbing and better in construction.
