Dear members,

It has almost been nine months since UrbanPK first appeared on the vast world wide web as a result of consistent dedication, hardwork and thorough planning by a team of highly committed Pakistanis. To our utter surprise, we have achieved remarkable success through unimaginable growth - both in the number of members and content of the UrbanPK project. We have received an incredible response. For this all, we must convey our heartiest thanks to you. Thank you! Without you, UrbanPK would have mean't nothing and all our hardwork and dedication would have been futile.

Now, as we fast approach our first anniversary, we are already facing incredible challenges. These include accomodating the rapidly growing community, enhancing the organization of the website and expanding the UrbanPK project to cover the unprededented economic boom in Pakistan. All this must be accomplished efficiently and in a professional manner. As you probably know, such an ambitious endeavor requires financial support. So far, we have tried to accomodate all the expenditures through our own pockets and with much appreciated help from a few of our members. However, as the project advances beyond our expectations, it is becoming increasingly hard for the UrbanPK team to fulfill all of the financial requirements. A few of you have generously helped us out before and we are much, much thankful for that contribution. Now, we once again reach out to you for much needed support. For without that, all of our hardwork and dedication would collapse beyond our control. Therefore, we humbly request you to contribute whatever you can to the project.

In order to ascertain proper use of your contribution, we have a system of accountability in place. We will inform you of the required finances, update the contribution and provide invoices of services rendered. You have placed a great deal of trust in us. That trust is the source of our motivation and in order to uphold it, we must strive to preserve it.

Finally, we would like to thank you once again for your support and request you to spread the word about the UrbanPK project. Pakistan is far from the stereotype propaganda eminated from the predominant media. It is a country of 160 million strong and hospitable people, a country of majestic landscapes and one of the most breathtaking geography. A country, which is now at the threshold of remarkable economic growth. This is the message about Pakistan we all must send to the world.

Our country has done alot for us. It is our duty to do whatever we can, as much as possibe in our capacity, to give back to Pakistan.

• Discover
  • This section will undergo a complete change aesthetically and content wise. We will be focusing on keeping the reader attracted to reading more and more in this section so they leave this portion of the site enlightened towards the ground reality and the country. We will be going towards something similar to the following URL... http://www.tourism.gov.pk/vpy/index.htm

  • Under the new changes this section will receive a bit more attention considering it deserves a whole lot more promotion than what it gets currently. It is important that we really promote this section because of how much potential we have in this sector.

• Metros
  • This section never quite got off the ground because our content team could never get organized and get to work. So as of now it is a priority to finish this section and make it accurate. We will be using a design similar to wikipedia.

• Project Archive
  • Since, the resource section is being done away with; we will be making this section independent. Under this section the "top 20 scrapers" will also be covered. We will be giving less attention to this section because a lot of people criticize us for making it seem that these projects represent the development of Pakistan. We will though facilitate this section and its growth by having a entire new system so that the team can add, modify, and edit projects through a central system.

  • Since, we are adding so many new things and taking away other less significant things we must make room. Therefore, this area will be sidelined so that these links are put into the footer of the website. That way it will be out of the way yet easily accessible to the community.

New Sections of the Site:

• Assist Pakistan
  • In this section we will explain the pressures on Pakistan from the international community. We will have letters stored on this section which the members of the site can mail their congressmen or representatives. This will really be a good movement and it might actually give UrbanPK some more standing in these administrative circles.

• Multimedia
  • In this part of the site I want to promote videos on Pakistan. We will have a new video system shortly installed on the forums and we can link to it from this page. We will also be involving the image gallery on this page
    

Breakdown of expenses:

Site Design: - Finalized
Yes, we have only recently created a new site design and implemented it. This template we created was just a stopgap to handle the load and expansion we will be applying in the next few weeks. We expect the expansion of the site to finish in 13 months. We will produce a mass of articles and literature until then. Therefore, it is imperative that we get professionals to come and design something new that will be able to handle all future expansion. They will also redesign our subpages to look much more attractive. I would also like a new image watermark for our pictures which will look professional.

Cost: 700 USD

Forum Design: - Finalized
You can not change the site design without changing the forum design. Besides, a new version of the forum software requires us to either convert our current skin or get a new one. If logic prevails we go for a new forum design.

Cost: 300 USD

Scripting: - Finalized
Out of all the changes we will make this one will be the most important and essential for the development of this site.

Cost: 500 USD
